The kitchen is the heart of the home. during the remodel, Rockstar Remodel keeps your culinary needs in mind and, if the kitchen becomes out of commission during the remodel, is often is able to set up a temporary kitchen.

IKEA cabinets, butcher block countertop, new range hood fan and pot filler for the stove, hardwood flooring, and much more.

This kitchen was revitalized with new cabinets, tile, and flooring. When the fluorescent lights were removed, Rockstar Remodel was able to rebuild a raised section of the ceiling with accent lighting to add some light in addition to the new recessed lights.

Cat for scale.

In addition to new laminate flooring, cabinets, paint and lighting Rockstar Remodel also moved the stove to a place more convenient for the homeowner during cooking.

Glass tile was used for the mosaic backsplash.

Rockstar Remodel replaced the old countertop with butcherblock, installed a subway tile backsplash and painted.

In "Apt B", Rockstar Remodel cut out the wall between the kitchen and living area for a custom bar. This made the apartment feel brighter and more open.

Rockstar Remodel did the same in "Apt E" and here are photographs from more angles. Rockstar Remodel also demo'd the old cabinets, installed the new ones and the microwave hood fan, and tiled the backsplash.

"Apt D" didn't work for a full cut out bar, so Rockstar Remodel did a half cut out with a smaller bar which made the kitchen opening feel wider. Rockstar Remodel removed the linoleum from the kitchen, installed new cabinets and tile backsplash before painting the walls and refinishing the trim and the floor.

The trash compactor was unsightly and, by the time it was full, made the kitchen malodorous. Rockstar Remodel was remodeling the bathroom at the same time so using the removed vanity modified it to fit in the kitchen. This reuses existing materials so it's better for the environment, saves the client money and matches the existing cabinets better than new wood. Rockstar Remodel installed a SimpleHuman pull-out trash can.

Rockstar Remodel swapped the kitchen light for a range hood fan above an island. There was no crawlspace access so the ceiling needed removal for the ducting to be installed and repair afterward.

The long countertop made the kitchen entryway very narrow so Rockstar Remodel opened the area by removing the countertop, shortening the ponywall, stitching in new hardwood to match the existing flooring, and reinistalling the shortened countertop. Rockstar Remodel was able to use pieces cut from the countertop to add a matching backsplash.

With the new microwave hood fan, there was no need of this microwave so Rockstar Remodel remodeled the shelves to better fit the client's needs and look more modern.

The stovetop and oven no longer worked so they were just taking up space in this kitchen. Rockstar Remodel removed the cabinets, stovetop, installed butcherblock as a countertop and repaired the wall and flooring before painting.

Brendan Hutchins was also a licensed Journeyman Electrician through DeKorte Electric at the time of this project. Here he installed recessed lights and a microwave hood fan. In order for there to be room for the new microwave hood fan, he also modified the above cabinet.
