Step by step
You’ll be asked for a few more details about your project on the WALKTHROUGH BOOKING FORM.
We’ll meet in-person or video call to do a walkthrough, then I’ll email an estimate in about a week.
A remodel is a relationship, taking place in your home for a period of time, like a housemate living with you and fixing up the place. It’s vital that both parties have mutual respect, and clear communication.
After reviewing all of your work proposals, email to schedule the start date.
Now you get to start selecting the products you want to have installed if you haven’t already. Happy to assist with sourcing and selection of materials, but the final choice is up to you.
You’ll submit a signed contract, and materials pre-payment, by the day we break ground.
Day one on site is to contain the work area with floor to ceiling tarps, drop cloths, and HEPA air filters.
Awareness and appropriate accommodations of people, pets, and plants in the home will be made, requested and unspoken.
If there is a door that sticks, squeaky floor board, or part of the house that is a nuisance, it may be repaired while the job is going, even if it’s not a part of the scope of work, just for our own sanity.
Weekly progress payments as work is being completed is requested.
During the project, you can be provided with photos and updates via text, whether you’re out of town or in the next room.
Ideally, recycled, repurposed, up-cycled, and otherwise un-wasteful materials for your project will be used first, taking from what was already there in your home, obtaining from reuse stores like the ReBuilding Center or ReStore, or getting materials second hand and leftover.
Of course, we will be using new and high quality, durable, lasting materials for the fixtures you will use, see, and love on a day to day basis.
When the project is completed, we will walk through the transformation together, to ensure your vision and desire has become a reality.
The Contractor Triangle
High Quality: I’m not just a contractor or handyman, but first an artist. The quality and craftsmanship of the project matters most to me. This is your home, and I want what we put into it to look good, feel good, work perfectly, and last as long as you want it to.
Affordable: With the above as the primary goal, I work as efficiently and affordably as possible, but good work takes time and I don’t rush. Depending on the size of the project, I may be in your home for a couple months, and I take care to treat your home as if it was my own.
Speed: I work at the speed required to do the job well, because while the project will take a short time, you’ll live in the remodel for the rest of your life.
Dust collection and extraction
It is commonly understood that remodeling is messy, dusty, and a big hassle; we try to debunk this mindset. Rockstar Remodel uses Festool power tools with built in dust extraction to reduce as much airborne dust at the source, plus has a BuildClean 360 degree HEPA filter air scrubber running while working to pull dust from the air to keep the air clean, all within Zipwalls of floor to ceiling plastic or fabric to contain the work area.
Smart Home
There are so many cool new products to make your home do what you want, when you want, how you want. Too many options? Too complicated and confusing? We can help.
From Nest, Google Home, Apple HomeKit, SmartThings, and more, we can install, set up, and explain in English how to use it, and even set automations for you so you don’t have to.
